We're doing our best to stop oil imports by returning to
STEAM!!!
With more than six
years of restoration
work behind us,
American Locomotive
Company (ALCo) 2-8-0
#18 returned to active
service...
MAY 24TH, 2008
Our passenger excursions are also powered by one of our two World War II era diesel-electric locomotives, which are also used weekly in our freight operations. Both engines were built by General Electric at their locomotive facility in Erie, PA. The 44-ton centercab No111 was built in 1947 and delivered new to the Arcade & Attica Railroad. No112 was built in 1945 and delivered to the United States Navy. The A&A purchased the engine from the City of Colorado Springs Railroad in 1988 to supplement the ailing engine No111. Today, No111 has been returned to full operation.
We're Ready .......

I took my wife and daughter on the haunted steam ride and it was fantastic! It was a beautiful, crisp fall day and was just warm enough to ride the gondola the entire trip. You truly get the sense of how travel was at the turn of the century. Assigned seating or no, I'll glady be back on the A&A soon!

We had a ball! Alyssa 's Dad~Justin went on it 31 years ago and the same expression of wonderment and excitement was portrayed in both faces. Who needs high tech. This experience is timeless.

Initially, my son and I were disappointed but as the 2pm. ride progressed, we became pleased with it. I enjoyed "Squeezebox Johnny" and his accordion, that made the ride a little more enjoyable. Your conductor, Richard?, I think, was very negative. When I asked "How long have you been doing this?" he answered, "Too long!" The soot that we acquired from the return trip wasn't that bad but he conveyed we would get all black. Overall, I was pleased, but the one thing that annoyed me was getting good seats. When we entered the train station we were told to go to a particular car after which we discovered there wasn't adequate seating for 4 of us so we moved to another car. After cordial manners and looking around, we arranged for the 4 of us to sit in 2 seats facing each other, no thanks to the people you hired to show us to our seats. Perhaps you might try pre-arranging the seats, they're already numbered, the cars are, too. I don't know about anyone else but I would have paid $15/ person if you had seat assignments and someone to show me to them, what do you think?

Our Family had a blast taking a trip back in time while riding on your wonderful and very historic train! We were treated like royalty by your caring and devoted staff. Not only did we enjoy the ride itself, but the "Elvis" concert with Patrick Johnson was FANTASTIC, too!!!!!!!!!

This was my first time ever on a train. Also it was my birthday and my daughter, Jaimee and I had a wonderful time on the "Murder Mystery" train ride. The Mystery Troup did a great job and the train ride was fantastic. I do expect to be back. Thanks for a great ending to my Birthday.
